This is a book that slowly creeps up on you. Initially, I wasn't really buying in but as the story moves forward and she finally joins the others, it really takes off. The relationship between her second husband and herself is one of the most beautifully recognized that I have seen except for maybe Gabaldon's writing. This is really a kind of allegory. The riches that the outsider's seek are not what the quiet people have. Wonderful birthing scene. Good book club book.
